Education

The Brick Township Public School System serves all students living within the Township. The system includes two high schools, two middle schools, seven elementary schools and three specialty schools. Athletic and extracurricular programs are very important for a student’s education, and therefore are some of the best in the schools in Brick Township. The District thrives to promote the best programs for its children, with a great emphasis on small class sizes and superb teachers. In addition, there is a new Special Education facility to help those students with special needs. The Brick Township Public School District is indeed one of the best, with a strong alliance between teachers, administration, and parents to make sure that their students receive the finest education possible.

Higher education is available in the nearby neighboring cities, offering many opportunities for students to obtain a college degree. Georgian Court University, which is in Lakewood, is a four year private institution with a variety of majors and degree levels. Ocean County College, located in Toms River, is a two year community college from which students can advance to other excellent New Jersey colleges.

Besides the stunning New Jersey shore, patrons are involved in a number of other hobbies. The Township Recreation Department takes an approach to provide fun and exciting programs all year long each specific to incorporate the current season. They also provide many supplemental educational programs, such as the “Jump Start” which begins with children ages four and up, and prepares them for many years as students. As for sports, The Drum Point Sports Complex adheres toward any athlete’s desire, including a skate park, soccer fields, basketball courts, and a swimming pool. A private skating rink that focuses on ice hockey and figure skating, as well as private lessons, is also provided by the Township Recreation Department. In addition, Brick Township has a running club which cruises the charming streets of the city, poetry clubs, a Garden Club and a playhouse which performs various shows throughout the year.

In the warmer months, citizens often flock to the beaches. The most popular beach, Point Pleasant Beach, comes with a lovely boardwalk with plenty of attractions and sights to see. The beaches and boardwalks in the quaint towns just south of Point Pleasant offer all the pleasures of summer as well. Golfers flourish at the many golf courses in the area, but their favorite, Forge Pond County Golf Course (which is open to the public) is a hot spot in the summer. And the many attractive parks in the city draw citizens in for picnics and strolls, in particular the beautiful renovated Brick Reservoir.
